Inspiration // Postcards From Paradise

With the long weekend here at last our heads are in holiday mode! Exploring the best of our backyard, our co-designer Adrian shares his favourite Australian escapes. From the remote to the luxurious, the active to the relaxing find your travel vice here.

With such a laid back vibe, Hyams is definitely the place to escape when you want to unwind and relax. Remaining largely undeveloped, there's a rare sense of natural serenity and untouched beauty that keeps the destination as one of our best kept secrets. Tucked away amongst acres of bushland, this little piece of paradise is renowned for being the home of the whitest sand in the world. Spend your days soaking up the sun without a worry in the world.

Equally beautiful in the off season as in the snow, spend a weekend in the alpine resort soaking in the breathtaking surrounds and getting back to nature. With activities abound you'll never be stuck for choice. From horse riding to cycling, 4WDing and hiking, clear your head in the fresh mountain air whilst enjoying the ultimate panoramic vistas. A high country escape at its finest.

Ideal for an energising break away from the grind, tropical Noosa epitomises the beauty of laid back coastal life. With a little something for everyone, get caught up exploring the myriad of activities on offer. Take that surfing lesson, try paddle boarding or get the giggles tubing down the canal. If you're looking for something a bit more zen, no worries, kick back sans a worry in the world, cocktail in hand of course, and enjoy the slower pace of life.

Hidden amongst the breathtaking beauty of Coles Bay lies the even more amazing Saffire Freycinet eco resort. Nestled into the rugged natural landscape, the architecturally designed beauty looks fit for a Bond villain. As spectacular inside as out, the resort offers the ultimate in luxury escapes. From the fine dining to the exclusive privates suites and spa this dream destination ticks all the right boxes. Revel in the seclusion whilst soaking in the illustrious charm of the natural surrounds.

Often a forgotten voyage for us locals, a trip to Australia's spiritual heartland will leave a lasting impression well worth the trip to the red centre. Incredibly educating as well as moving, experience the iconic beauty of the rugged landscape before retreating to Longitude 131º, the luxurious choice of stay. Make sure to take a tour around Uluru as well as the lesser known Kata Tjuta to fully experience the significance of these natural wonders.

Pay a visit to Australia's largest reef and world heritage site. Awe evoking to say the least, explore the underwater wonderland with snorkel and scuba tours. Brush past an amazing array of 500 species of marine life including the main attraction and larger than life whale shark. As well as frolicking with your new found friends, spend time marvelling at the diversity and richness of the coral, a truly breathtaking selection. Stretching 300km off the mid-North coastline of WA, this is one wonder not to be missed.

Head into the heart of food and wine territory in South Australia's Barossa Valley for a fun weekend away with your nearest and dearest. Make room for a cheat day or two and treat yourself to the region's finest culinary experiences and wine tasting. With artisanal cheesemaking, local farmer's markets and vineyard tours on offer, there's an abundance of choice to suit every taste. Feeling a bit sluggish after all that? Join one of the local cycling tours for a more active approach to exploring the region.
